It’s been a day of disappointment and celebration. Unfortunately Ride the Rideau was cancelled shortly after it started today due to the weather. The rain wasn’t the issue, but the continuous lightning was. We only made it to the first rest stop when we had to get off our bikes and seek shelter.
There’s a silver lining in this thunderstorm cloud though… Through your sponsorship dollars and the generosity of our team sponsor, BBS Construction (Ontario) Ltd., Team BBS Bikers raised $18,000! That money goes directly to cancer research and we are very thankful for your contribution.
In the end, we biked back to the start and completed 26K of the 100K ride. We were all disappointed to have to call it a day, but it’s the fundraising that really counts and Ride the Rideau raised a whooping $1.72 million this year!
